Santa Monica, CA — Oct. 25, 2025 — If you like drama, Corsair Field had plenty. Santa Monica College traded haymakers with Grossmont all night and finally slammed the door in double overtime, winning 46–38 in one of the wildest games of the season.

Grossmont grabbed an early lead with a 58-yard pick-six, and later popped a 98-yard kickoff return. No panic from SMC. Elijah Aaron answered with a 17-yard rushing TD, and Dylan Moreno kept it himself from 13 yards to knot it at 14–14.

From there it was vintage back-and-forth college football. Moreno found Bryson Wood on a 30-yard strike to even things again, and Christopher Washington powered in from 4 yards to give SMC a 28–21 edge. When the Griffins tied it late, Jaiden Espadas calmly banged home a 33-yard field goal for a 31–28 lead, but Grossmont's late kick sent it to overtime, 31–31.

Overtime #1:

Grossmont scored first to go up 38–31. The Corsairs answered on fourth-quarter nerves of steel: Moreno to Ramon Galvez II for 18 yards — ballgame extended.

Overtime #2:

SMC moved the chains, and Moreno went right back to his guy. Moreno → Galvez II for 14 yards gave the Corsairs the lead, then the pair linked up again on the two-point conversion. The defense did the rest. 46–38. Exhale.

Stars of the Night:

  • Ground game: Christopher Washington (8-38, TD) kept the defense honest.

  • K Jaiden Espadas: perfect night — 5/5 PATs and the 33-yard FG. Also handled punts and kickoffs.
