Santa Monica, Calif. — November 11, 2025
The Santa Monica College Corsairs capped off their home schedule with an impressive 27–14 win over the Glendale Vaqueros at Corsair Field. The victory marks SMC's sixth straight and improves their record to 8–1 overall and 4–0 in conference play.
Glendale opened the game strong, scoring on its first drive to take a 7–0 lead. But SMC quickly responded with an eight-play, 65-yard march capped by a 2-yard touchdown run from Christopher Washington and a successful two-point conversion pass from Tyler Handford, putting the Corsairs ahead 8–7.
The defense soon took center stage. Linebacker D'Anthony Coleman recorded a tackle-for-loss in the end zone for a safety, and defensive back Naiem Powell intercepted Glendale quarterback Braden Brimhall in the end zone to halt a red-zone threat. Before halftime, quarterback Dylan Moreno connected with Bryson Wood for a 26-yard touchdown to extend SMC's lead to 17–7.
The Corsair defense continued to dominate into the second half. Jaiden Espadas added a 22-yard field goal in the third quarter, pushing the lead to 20–7. Although Glendale cut the deficit to 20–14 on a 34-yard scoring strike, SMC's offense quickly responded — Washington found the end zone again from one yard out to seal the 27–14 victory.
Defensively, Santa Monica was relentless, forcing three turnovers and limiting Glendale to just 14 points despite 383 total yards. Powell and Tyler Thomas each recorded interceptions, while Coleman and Leron Parker combined for two sacks. Offensively, Moreno went 16-for-24 with 188 yards and two touchdowns, while Washington led the rushing attack with 56 yards and two scores.
The Corsairs controlled the clock for more than 75% of the game, totaling 354 yards of offense, 21 first downs, and an efficient mix of run-pass execution.
Santa Monica will wrap up the regular season next Saturday, November 8, on the road against West L.A. College in their final conference matchup.
