The Santa Monica College Women's Basketball team opened the 2025-2026 season with a 47-33 over Cerritos College.  The Corsairs dominated on the boards enroute to the victory.   

The Corsairs were led by Freshman Mika Kato (Culver City High) with 17 points and 6 assists, and Freshman Ellen Jonsson (Stockholm, Sweden) had a great night as well with 11 points and 5 rebounds.

Freshmen Kimberly Dumit  (University High) led the Corsairs with 17 rebounds, while Leanna Ontiveros (Lincoln High) also had a great night on the boards with 15 rebounds.

"It was great to get a win tonight," stated Head Coach Lydia Strong.   "We battled and worked hard enough to pull away late in the 4th quarter which is great for team with the amount of freshmen we have.    We

play Wednesday at LA Trade Tech, so I'm hoping we can continue to improve and continue to be successful."
